Q: What makes the GLUCOCARD X-METER different from other systems?

A: Every person who needs to monitor his/her blood glucose has individual preferences. That is why there are many options in the market. GLUCOCARD X-METER is the perfect solution for people who want a system that offers high-end technology AND a simple and easy-to-use meter. No one should sacrifice technology for simplicity. Auto coding, AST, 5-second test time, double dosing, and 0.3 µL sample size.

Q: What is "auto coding"?

A: There is no need to manually code the GLUCOCARD X-METER. Coding is accomplished simply by inserting a test strip into the meter- and the meter takes care of the rest! You will see one of three automatic codes appear on the screen: F-2, F-3, and F-4. These are NOT error codes.

Q: What is the sample size of the GLUCOCARD X-METER?

A: The GLUCOCARD X-METER requires a 0.3 µL samples size - no one has a smaller sample size!

Q: How long does the battery last?

A: The meter requires one lithium CR2032 battery. Generally, the battery should last approximately 2,000 tests.

Q: Do I need to reset the time after the batteries have been replaced?

A: No meter settings or stored test results will be altered unless you:

  • Touch the metal portion on the main unit with your fingers or any metal.
  • Take over five minutes to replace battery.
  • Load the battery incorrectly.
  • Insert a used or weak battery.

Q: Why is the test strip bottle enclosed in a foil pouch?

A: The foil pouch is used to extend the life of the test strips once they're opened. Thus supporting the six-month "good after open" claim, and helps control environmental factors that could affect test strips.

Q: What is the test strip shelf-life?

A: Test strips have 18-month shelf-life expiration, and are good for up to 6 months after opening. Remember to write the date you opened the test strip bottle in the space provided.

Q: Can I use the GLUCOCARD X-METER system if I have undergone galactose tolerance or xylose absorption tests?

A: The GLUCOCARD X-METER system may overestimate your blood glucose level if you have undergone galactose tolerance or xylose absorption tests and may thus mask hypoglycemia. People should talk to their doctor on appropriate actions.

Q: Is the GLUCOCARD X-METER system affected by maltose and/or icodextrin?

A: The GLUCOCARD X-METER uses glucose dehydrogenase. Icodextrin and its metabolites (maltose, maltotriose, and maltotetraose) will cause falsely higher results. If this is a concern for you, the GLUCOCARD 01 systems may be a better option for you.

Q: What type of preservatives may be used?

A: EDTA, heparin, and mono-iodoacetic acid samples of blood may be used. Do not use other preservatives.

Q: Does the GLUCOCARD X-METER display test results in both mg/dL and mmol/L?

A: No, the meter is programmed to display only mg/dL in the US.

Q: If enough blood is not applied to the test strip initially, can additional blood be applied?

A: If meter does not start after adding the first blood drop, you may apply a second drop within 10 seconds of the first drop. Discard strip if meter does not start to count down after second blood drop is applied.

Q: What type of lancet is included in the GLUCOCARD X-METER kit?

A: The meter kit contains the Multilet Super Soft II Disposable Lancets. This is a 28 gauge general purpose lancet. At this time, this lancet is not sold separately.

Q: Is the GLUCOCARD X-METER Blood Glucose Meter whole blood or plasma referenced?

A: GLUCOCARD X-METER is plasma referenced.

Q: How do I clean the GLUCOCARD X-METER and how often?

A: Keep the test strip port free of blood, moisture, dirt, or dust. Use a lint-free cloth dampened with water to clean meter. Thoroughly wring out cloth before use. Do not use an abrasive cloth or antiseptic solution, as these may damage the display screen. Do not clean inside battery compartment.

Q: Is the GLUCOCARD X-METER covered by Medicare/Medicaid and private insurance?

A: Yes
